Poker Rooms: In its two main forms—draw poker rooms and stud poker rooms—it can he played as a game with a central pool, or as a casino game played against the bank. Historically, poker rooms developed from other games such as brag and its name probably derives from the German wordpochen (to bluff).
1 Closed poker rooms, usually played in the form of draw poker rooms. Players receive their cards face down. After a betting interval, they discard the cards they do not want, and receive replacements from the deck.
A second betting interval is followed by a showdown if more than one player is still active.
2 Open poker rooms, known as stud poker rooms. This is a faster game than draw poker rooms and allows for more skill.
